PCI Warns Floridians on Auto Glass Fraud, Assignment of Benefits Abuse

The Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) is warning vehicle owners in Florida not to become a victim of fraud when having a windshield repaired or replaced and to avoid assignment of benefits (AOB) “schemes” by glass repair and replacement facilities.

Insurers in Florida have been pushing for legislation reforming the AOB process on homeowners insurance, though the effort failed in 2017. Proponents of the legislation have blamed skyrocketing homeowners rates on contractors who descend upon the state following major storms and hurricanes who get insureds to sign an AOB form designating the repairer as the beneficiary of the

Small Business Optimism Fades in June

Gridlock on healthcare bill dragging down optimism, though still near historic high levels, says National Federation of Independent Business.

Australia’s AMA Group Acquires Seven Collision Repair Centers, Plans Three Greenfield Locations

The AMA Group provided an update on its expansion announced the acquisition of seven collision repair centers and plans for three new greenfield sites.  These acquisitions  will be funded using existing financial resources. The total anticipated consideration for the acquisition transactions is AU$6.23 million ($4.85 million) and will provide incremental revenue of AU$22.5 million ($17.57 million) along with incremental earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of AU$1.84 million ($1.44 million). The implied EBITDA multiple average for the transaction is 3.39

Collision Repair Industry Production at Record Levels in April

Growth returns in to the collision repair industry in April after a down month in February and soft March results.

An analysis of the latest data released from the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), shows that total production for the collision repair industry was up in April to record levels. April’s production performance was up both versus the previous month and up from April 2016.

Toyota Research Institute Makes $100 Million Investment To Bring Disruptive Tech To Market Faster

The Toyota Research Institute (TRI) announced it is investing an initial $100 million to launch Toyota AI Ventures, a new corporate venture capital subsidiary designed to provide early-stage financing to startup technology companies. TRI launched the venture by contributing initial investments it has made in three technology companies: Nauto, SLAMcore and Intuition Robotics.
