CIF Announces 8th Annual Gala January 18 in Palm Springs

The Collision Industry Foundation (CIF) announced plans for its 8th Annual Fundraiser Gala, which will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018, between 6-8 p.m at LuLu’s California Bistro, 200 S. Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs, Calif.

Tickets can be purchased online at a discount prior to the event. A VIP package that includes 3 raffle tickets is also available.

The funds raised from this event are used to provide emergency relief for Collision Repair Professionals who have been impacted from natural disasters or other catastrophic events.

Oregon Collision Repair Shop Sues GEICO Alleging Antitrust

Lawsuit by Leif’s Auto Collision alleges GEICO and ARX shops engaged in conspiracy to suppress repair costs, refuse to reimburse for diagnostic scans. GEICO had sued collision repair facility in January alleging abusive and intimidating conduct against its adjusters.

Portland, Oregon-based Leif’s Auto Collision, filed a lawsuit Tuesday in the U.S. District Court in Oregon against GEICO insurance alleging the insurance company violates the Sherman Antitrust Act. The collision repair center has been involved in more than a half dozen federal lawsuits with insurance companies in the last decade, as well as a suit against the Better Business Bureau (BBB)

Registration Open for 20 University of the Aftermarket Online Courses

These on-line courses enable motor vehicle aftermarket professionals to sharpen their professional skills and earn continuing education units (CEUs) that can be applied toward their AAP (Automotive Aftermarket Professional) or MAAP (Master Automotive Aftermarket Professional) designations.

NSF Certifies First Automotive Recyclers in Australia

AkzoNobel Opens Training Centre in Dubai

Length of Rental Growth Slowed in Third Quarter

According to the latest research from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, the slowdown in the growth U.S. collision repair industry’s average length of rental that began in the first quarter continued in the through the third.

Average Length of Rental (LOR) for Q3 2017 landed at 12.1 days in the United States, an increase of just .2 days compared to Q3 2016. This is a continuation of the general course throughout the calendar year, although a few months produced measureable increases.

Automotive Lift Institute Re-elects Stet Schanze as Chairman

Gas Prices Jump Since Beginning of November

National gas price average up nine cents since November 1

According to AAA’s Fuel Gauge report, at $2.56, the national gas price average has increased nine cents inside of 13 days in November. Strong fall consumer gasoline demand has continued into November and is chipping away at national gasoline inventory. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reports total gasoline inventories dropped by 3.3 million bbl in their latest report.

Veterans Can Be Reimbursed For Insurance Licensing Exam Fees in Connecticut

Connecticut Insurance Commissioner Katharine L. Wade yesterday announced that U.S. veterans applying for insurance licenses are eligible to be reimbursed for licensing exam fees.
