Thatcham Calls on Vehicle Manufacturers to Engage with Repair Industry to Address “Spiraling Cost of Repair”

According to the UK-Based Insurance Research body, average repair bills have increased by 32% over the last three years due to increasingly complex repairs.

Thatcham Research is today delivering a call to action for vehicle manufacturers to urgently engage with the repair industry to halt spiraling costs. According to Thatcham, the motor insurer’s automotive research center in the United Kingdom, the average repair bill has risen by nearly 32 percent in the last three years to £1,678 ($2164), and concerns are mounting around core repair challenges encompassing Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), new materials and a lack of skills.

BASF’s VisionPLUS Performance Group Participation Approved for I-CAR Credit

Insurance Association Concerned with Mississippi AG’s Consumer Guide to Insurance and Auto Body Repair Misleads Customers

Property Casualty Insurers Association concerned language on replacement parts in guide may confuse consumers and collision repair shops.

The Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) is concerned that the Consumer Guide to Insurance and Auto Body Repair released on May 25 by Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood may confuse and mislead both consumers and collision repair facilities.

ASA Urges Ohio Collision Repairers to Contact Legislators on Budget Amendment on Non-OEM Parts Disclosure

Proposal would shift burden of notifying customers about non-OEM parts from insurers to collision repairers.

The Automotive Service Association (ASA) is urging collision repairers in Ohio to contact legislators over an amendment proposed for the Ohio budget legislation that would exempt insurers from providing notice to customers when non-OEM parts are used in a repair.

If enacted, the repair shop would be held responsible for notifying the customer. As most auto insurers’ policies require the use of non-OEM or used parts during the repair of the vehicle, ASA believes this measure would place an unfair burden of enforcing the insurer’s
