Veterans Can Be Reimbursed For Insurance Licensing Exam Fees in Connecticut

Connecticut Insurance Commissioner Katharine L. Wade yesterday announced that U.S. veterans applying for insurance licenses are eligible to be reimbursed for licensing exam fees.

 “We are honored to offer this service to our veterans working in the insurance industry in Connecticut. Under this program, veterans can be reimbursed for exam fees each time they take a test,” Commissioner Wade said. “The men and women of the military who serve our nation and defend our way of life certainly are deserving of this.”

Acquisitions Drive Uni-Select 24.3% Sales Growth in Third Quarter

Uni-Select reported consolidated sales for the third quarter ended September 30 were $395.8 million, a 24.3 percent increase compared to the same quarter last year, driven by the sales generated from recent business acquisitions, adding sales of $84.0 million or 26.4 percent of which The Parts Alliance represents $55.7 million or 17.5 percent. The Canadian Automotive Group delivered organic growth of 7.7 percent. The consolidated organic sales of 2.3 percent were affected by FinishMaster’s product line changeover and the hurricanes. Waymo’s Self-Driving Taxis Operating without Test Driver at Wheel

Waymo, the former Google self-driving car project, announced it is vehicles have started operating on public roads in the Phoenix, Ariz. market without drivers. Until this announcement, Waymo’s autonomous vehicle fleet had operated on public roads with a test driver at the wheel.

According to Waymo, a subset of its fleet will operate in fully autonomous mode without the safety drivers and the public is being invited to participate in the initiative.

Boyd Group Reports Sales Increased 13.5% in Q3 over Last Year

The Boyd Group Income Fund (TSE:BYD.UN) today reported its financial results for the three and nine-month periods ended September 30, 2017.

During the quarter, Sales increased by 13.5 percent to CA$391.9 million ($307.9 million) from CA$345.3 million ($271.3 million) in 2016. Same-store sales declined by 0.5 percent on a reported basis. After adjusting for one less selling/production day same-store sales increased 1.1 percent on a per day basis.

Traffic Volume Growth Slowdown Continued in August

August 12 month traffic growth rate at lowest rate for the year. Traffic volume up 1.4 percent for the month.

Travel volume in August continued to increase, though at a smaller rate than recent years. The growth is continuing the trend of increased driving that supports increasing collision repair industry volume and auto physical damage insurance claims across the U.S.

Travel for the month of August is estimated at 283.3 billion vehicle miles nationwide according to the most recent data released by the Federal Highway Administration.

August’s traffic volume represents an increase of 1.4 percent or 3.9 billion vehicle miles
