AkzoNobel Finalizes Acquisition of Disa Technology

AkzoNobel has finalized the acquisition of French manufacturer Disa Technology (Disatech). Headquartered in Limoges, France, Disatech is the leader in aerospace technical marking systems. GAO Releases Vehicle Data Privacy Report

PPG Completes Sale of Remaining Fiberglass Operations to Nippon Electric Glass

Collision Industry Foundation Rallying to Support Industry Flood Victims of Hurricane Harvey

Will provide emergency relief to collision repair professionals affected by the storm.

The Collision Industry Foundation (CIF) announced it is committed to working with all industry segments to deliver aid to victims of Hurricane Harvey. The CIF’s mission is to deliver emergency relief directly to collision repair professionals.  CIF is calling on all shops, trade groups, equipment companies, paint companies, insurance companies and all other industry organizations who can assist in this relief effort.

Technicians who received assistance from the Collision Industry Foundation after Hurricane Katrina in 2006.

CIF is using all donations for emergency living and/or tool replacement expenses.

Donations can be made via the CIF website and no donation amount is too small. Or contact them directly via Email: collisionindustryfoundation@gmail.com or Phone at Toll Free (855) 424- 3243 – Direct (804) 427-6982.

The CIF Board of Trustees has assembled a committee that will organize and facilitate the relief efforts. Michael Quinn has been appointed chair of this committee.

Philadelphia I-CAR Committee Raises Over $46,000 for Collision Repair Education Foundation

Second annual event supports pre-employment collision education opportunities in greater Philadelphia market.

On Thursday, June 8, the Greater Philadelphia-area I-CAR committee held its second annual fundraiser at the Scotland Run Golf Club, in Williamstown, N.J. to benefit the Collision Repair Education Foundation and local collision repair school programs. Over 160 people participated in the golf tournament, evening banquet and silent auction. Over $46,000 was raised to support the Foundation and local education initiatives to improve the availability of trained, entry-level technicians in the market.

Former Niagara Falls Collision Repair Shop Owner Charged with Sales Tax Evasion

Faces seven felony counts for allegedly failing to remit more than $85,000 to state

The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance announced August 29 that the former owner of a Niagara Falls collision repair shop has been charged with multiple counts of sales tax evasion.

Alfred Vitagliano, 76, of 1290 95th St., Niagara Falls, was the operator of Fred’s Collision Shop at 530 56th St. He was arrested by investigators with the Tax Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, arraigned in Niagara Falls City Court before the Honorable Robert Merino, and now faces one count of 2nd grand larceny and

Memorial Services for Stan Rodman, Former ABPA Executive Director, Postponed Due to Hurricane Harvey

The services for Stan Rodman, former Automotive Body Parts Association (ABPA) executive director, that were originally scheduled for September 2 in Houston, have been postponed due to Hurricane Harvey.

Rodman, 79, passed away July 21 after dealing with a lengthy illness. Rodman served as Executive Director of the ABPA for thirty years from 1983-2013.

Poll Shows Strong Public Support for Career and Technical Education

Phi Delta Kappa International released its 49th annual report titled, Poll of the Public’s Attitudes Toward the Public Schools. The wide-ranging survey of education issues was conducted in May 2017 with more than 1,500 people in all 50 states. 

Some of the poll’s findings related to career and technical education (CTE) include:

  • 82 percent of respondents believes public high schools should offer job or career skills classes.
  • More than half of respondents said their local schools should offer more CTE classes.
  • 86 percent of respondents believe students should have access to certificate or licensing programs through local schools.

Collision Repair Industry Production Reaches New Record in May

For the second consecutive month, the collision repair industry in May achieved record levels of production.

An analysis of the latest data released from the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), shows that total production for the collision repair industry was up in May to record levels. May’s performance builds up April’s record production following weak performance in February and March.

The industry’s total production, which we define as the total average weekly hours per month multiplied by the total number of production and non-supervisory workers employed each month, was 7.71 million man hours per week in
