Two Australia Automotive Organizations Join Call for Solution on Right to Repair

The Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association (AAAA) is welcoming two additional automotive industry organizations expressing support for a mandatory solution for the sharing of vehicle repair and service information for all automotive repairers.

Immediately following the release of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) Draft Report on the New Car Retailing Industry on August 10, the AAAA has been buoyed by the support that has been gained from both the Motor Trades Association of Australia (MTAA) and the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC), two of the nation’s peak automotive dealer and independent repairer industry organisations, among others.

IIHS Research: Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection Reduce Collisions

Two studies by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety detail the impact collision avoidance technologies are having on accident rates.

New research from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) on lane departure warning system shows the technology is preventing crashes in the U.S. A separate study shows that blind spot detection also is yielding benefits when it comes to preventing lane-change crashes.

OEConnection Sponsors Two High School Coding Summer Camps

OEConnection LLC (OEC) sponsored a girls-only coding camp and a newly launched cyber security camp in partnership with TECH CORPS and RITE (Regional Information Technology Engagement).  OEC sponsorship allowed participating students to access an interactive curriculum taught by two certified TECH CORPS instructors, a Camp Kit that included supplies and software, evaluations and assessments, training and ongoing support.

Fort Hood Soldiers Graduate from Caliber Changing Lanes Program

Car Guys Collision Repair Acquires Gunder’s Auto Center

Facility is Car Guys Collision Repair’s 13th location in Florida.

Car Guys Collision Repair, the Florida-based multiple collision repair shop operator, announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire Gunder’s Auto Center. The Gunder family has been in the automotive and collision repair business in Lakeland since 1969. The business was marketed as Pro-Consumer.

Ray Gunder was known for going toe to toe with any insurance company he felt was not paying to repair his customers’ vehicles properly. Despite not being “insurance friendly” his quality of work and excellent customer service kept the customers pouring in.

CARSTAR Puget Sound Business Group Raises Funds for Children’s Hospital

Service King Apprentice Program Graduates 27 Collision Repair Technicians

Auto Care Association Launches Emerging Technologies Committee

The Auto Care Association announced the formation of its Emerging Technologies Committee, a new standing committee comprised of staff, member volunteers and external stakeholders who will spearhead research and development for vehicle network interfaces, vehicle connectivity and connected aftermarket devices, all on behalf of the independent auto care industry.

“Wireless technology and data collection are quickly becoming integral parts of today’s ‘connected’ vehicles. U.S. Body Repair Prices, Auto Insurance and Inflation Through July 2017

Auto body repair prices in July up less than two percent compared to year ago. Auto insurance prices were up nearly 6 percent during the same period.

The most recent government figures on inflation through July 2017 indicate the rate of growth of auto body repair prices has declined slightly bringing it closer to the rate of inflation in 2017.  Both the price of auto insurance and body repair continue to increase above the rate of overall inflation during the past twelve months, though the body repair measure’s growth is significantly less than auto insurance
