Axalta Reports 7% Sales Increase in Third Quarter

Axalta Coating Systems Ltd. (NYSE:AXTA) announced net sales of $1.091 billion for the third quarter of 2017 that ended September 30, an increase of 7.0 percent, including 1.9 percent in favorable foreign currency translation contribution. Constant currency net sales increased 5.1 percent in the period, driven by 9.7 percent in acquisition contribution, offset by 3.9 percent lower volumes and 0.7 percent lower average selling prices. The lower organic net sales were driven by distributor working capital adjustments in North America Performance Coatings, impacts from recent natural disasters as well

LKQ Reports 11.7% Revenue Growth for Third Quarter 2017

LKQ Corporation (NASDAQ:LKQ) today reported revenue for the third quarter of 2017 of $2.47 billion, an increase of 11.7 percent as compared to $2.21 billion in the third quarter of 2016. Income from continuing operations for the third quarter of 2017 was $122 million, an increase of 11.4 percent as compared to $110 million for the same period of 2016. On an adjusted basis, income from continuing operations was $140 million, an increase of 11.1 percent as compared to the $126 million for the same period of 2016.

Over 100 Attend Refinish Distributors Alliance Fall Conference

Over one hundred Refinish Distributors Alliance (RDA) members, manufacturer partners, and guests gathered for the 2017 RDA IMPACT Fall Performance Conference at the Westin Cleveland Downtown in Cleveland, Ohio.

The event took place over three days, and included a presentation by Don Hobbs of MAPS Business Training on neural linguistics and embedded commands. Hobbs also conducted ‘The One Thing’ workshop about how to focus to achieve the desired results. Gene Hamilton Passes Away

Innovative founder of Atlanta, Ga.-area Sports and Imports Collision served in leadership positions on the boards of numerous industry organizations.

Gene Lee Hamilton, founder of Sports and Imports Collision in Duluth, Ga. passed away Sunday at the age of 71. Hamilton started his career in the industry in automobile sales then later opened Sports and Imports Inc. a used car and wholesale vehicle business. Shortly afterward in the early 1980s, he founded his first collision repair facility, Sports and Imports Collision.

Gene Hamilton, seen in this 2004 file photo demonstrating a scooter employees at Sports and Imports used to speedily traverse the large facility, passed away Sunday at the age of 71. The scooters were just one of many innovations Hamilton made to improve his business and the industry.

Throughout his time in the collision repair industry, Gene served in many leadership positions of organizations that sought to improve the industry.

Hamilton was a founder of the Georgia Collision Industry Association in his home state. He was a longtime participant in the Collision Industry Conference and a board member of the National Auto Body Council.

Hamilton was a 1998 inductee in the Collision Industry Hall of Eagles. He was chairman of the Society of Collision Repair Specialists in 2000-2001. He served as chair of the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR) Board of Directors in 2003-2004 and also served on the board of the I-CAR Education Foundation.

Hamilton is survived by his mother, Norma Hamilton, daughters Michelle Coombs and Jeanette Hamilton, sons in law Bobby Coombs and Andrew Langmaid, grandsons Joshua Harvey and Jacob Coombs, and great grandchildren Taylor Harvey and Riley Popejoy.

A Memorial Service  will be held Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 12:00 PM. at Ashton Gardens located at 260 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. Sugar Hill, GA 30518

In lieu of flowers, the family request you consider memorial gifts to either Alzheimer’s Association or The Atlanta Ronald McDonald House.

ABRA Acquires Collision Repair Center in New Jersey

The new ABRA Pennington features 11,000 sq. ft. of production space and a 2,000 sq. ft. front office. The I-CAR Golf Class facility, located at 65 Route 31 North in Pennington, previously operated as CARSTAR of Pennington.

Collision Industry Foundation Extends Assistance to Victims of Puerto Rico and California Natural Disasters

The Collision Industry Foundation (CIF) announced today that its current relief efforts to Hurricane Harvey and Irma victims would be extended to those in need of assistance affected by the fires in California as well as the Hurricane damage to Puerto Rico.  

CIF has raised funds that are being distributed directly to all industry professionals including body techs, painters, CSR’s, estimators, adjusters, paint distributors and all other professionals in the collective collision repair industry. 

“Our focus has widened as these other natural disasters have impacted more collision industry professionals beyond Hurricanes Harvey & Irma,” stated William Shaw, CIF Chair and PPG Director of Business Development. “We are prepared to help more thanks to the generous donations by the industry at large.”

Those seeking aid or wanting on how to make a tax-deductible donation can find information at the CIF website.

National Auto Body Council Receives National Award for Recycled Rides Program

NICB Reports More than 600,000 Vehicle Damaged by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma

Flooded vehicles have finally stopped arriving at the Royal Purple Raceway east of Houston. Some 23,000 now await processing and retitling to be auctioned off for parts or to be scrapped. That is just one of several insurance industry salvage locations where more than 422,000 insured vehicles damaged by Harvey have been taken for processing. According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), these totals surpass the number of claims that resulted from Hurricane Katrina (approx. 300,000) and from Superstorm Sandy (250,500).

In addition, more than 215,000 claims have been filed following damage to vehicles from Hurricane Irma in Florida.
