Three Remaining Collision Repair Education Foundation Career Fairs Top 1000 Student Registrations

The Collision Repair Education Foundation announced it expects more than 1,000 students pursuing a career in the automotive service or collision industry at its three remaining career fair events in 2017.

Students studying for a career in the collision repair industry learned about opportunities available to them at a career fair hosted at 3M Headquarters in St. Paul Minn last year.

Geoff Crane, Former Diamond Standard Auto Parts Director of Industry Relations, Passes Away

Geoffrey “Geoff” Crane, who served as director of industry relations at Diamond Standard Auto Parts, passed away September 5 in Olive Branch, Miss. at the age of 70.

Geoff Crane passed away September 5 at the age of 70.

Diamond Standard, in a statement posted on its website, noted, “With sadness, we note the passing of Geoffrey Crane. Geoff was an integral part of the Diamond Standard team for many years. Our sympathies go out to Geoff’s family and friends.”

Crane was an active participant at the Collision Industry Conference and other industry events for many years.

U.S. Auto Body Repair Prices, Auto Insurance and Inflation Through September 2017

Auto body repair prices in September up more than three percent compared to year ago. Auto insurance prices were up over eight percent during the same period.

The most recent government figures on inflation through September 2017 indicate the rate of growth of auto body repair prices has increased slightly taking it to nearly 1 point above the rate of inflation in 2017.  Both the price of auto insurance and body repair continues to increase above the rate of overall inflation during the past twelve months, though the body repair measure’s growth is significantly less than auto insurance.

Lift Institute Moves into New Headquarters and Opens LiftLab

Lab features a dozen installed lifts to facilitate inspector training

The Automotive Lift Institute (ALI) officially opened its new headquarters and LiftLab in Cortland, New York, on Oct. 12, with a grand opening celebration attended by ALI members, lift inspectors, suppliers and other guests from the vehicle lift and workplace safety industries. Growth of ALI lift safety initiatives like the ALI Lift Inspector Certification Program drove the need for a larger multipurpose facility.

Fix Auto UK Adds Collision Repair Center to Network

Ford Adds 46 New Collision Repair Parts to Truckload Program

Collision Claims, Frequency and Losses Up in Second Quarter

Auto physical damage indicators influencing the collision repair industry continued to increase in the second quarter of 2017. Losses on collision claims up nearly 10 percent compared to previous year.

According to the latest available Fast Track Monitoring system data from the Independent Statistical Service Inc. (ISS), private passenger collision claims and losses continued to grow in the U.S. during the second quarter of 2017 compared to 2016. The number of collision claims has grown in every quarter since 2013 compared to the same quarter in the previous year.
